The main trailhead for Mount Pisgah is located at the Howard Buford Recreation Area, approximately 7 miles southeast of Eugene. The park offers ample parking and serves as the primary access point for hikers. Multiple trails converge at this location, including the popular Summit Trail. For those seeking alternative routes, secondary access points are available from the east side of the mountain via the East Trailhead on Ridgeway Road, and from the north side via the North Trailhead on Seavey Loop Road. These additional entry points provide varied hiking experiences and allow visitors to explore different aspects of Mount Pisgah’s terrain. The arboretum area, located near the main parking lot, also offers several interconnected trails that wind through wetlands and along creeks, providing easier walking options for those not attempting the summit.

The Summit Trail on Mount Pisgah features varied surface conditions that change with the seasons and weather. The trail is primarily composed of packed dirt and gravel, with some sections featuring exposed roots and rocks. During wet periods, particularly in spring and fall, the trail can become muddy and slippery in spots, requiring careful footing. As hikers ascend, they may encounter steeper sections with loose gravel and occasional large rocks protruding from the path. The trail is generally well-maintained, but hikers should be prepared for uneven terrain and potential puddles after rain. Proper footwear is recommended to navigate these conditions safely and comfortably throughout the year.
