Eugene, OR – April 11, 2025 – Spring is calling, and Hendricks Park is answering—with freshly blooming trails, sun-dappled forest paths, and an open invitation to give back. This Sunday, April 13, community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and join the Hendricks Park Forest Trail Maintenance Work Party, a morning of environmental stewardship and connection.
Held monthly, this hands-on event is a chance to preserve one of Eugene’s most beloved natural spaces, meet like-minded neighbors, and get a little muddy for a great cause.
🌲 Why Hendricks Park Matters
As Eugene’s oldest city park, Hendricks Park is a local gem—spanning 80 acres of native forest, walking trails, and botanical gardens perched above the university district. It’s a sanctuary for joggers, birdwatchers, hikers, and families alike.
But behind the serene beauty lies a network of trails and ecosystems that need ongoing care to stay safe, accessible, and healthy. That’s where you come in.

-
Keep trails safe and walkable

Reduce long-term maintenance costs for the city

Promote native plant health and wildlife habitat
-
Foster a deeper connection with nature
Plus, trail work counts as community service hours for students, clubs, or civic groups.
🧡 Voices from the Trail
“We always say, if you walk these trails, you should help take care of them at least once,” said a longtime volunteer with the Friends of Hendricks Park. “It’s an easy way to give back to something that gives so much to our mental and physical health.”
Volunteers often leave the work party with a sense of fulfillment—and often, a few new friends.
